Company Overview
We are a service provider, advocate and resource for persons living and dealing with mental, physical and/or emotional disabilities. We believe all human life is created in the image of God, and our mission is to show God's love to all persons and serve them with dignity and respect.
1. Love, Compassion and Gentleness: We believe that our relationship with each person we support is inspired by the values of love, compassion and gentleness.
2. Teaching and Learning: We recognize that we can assist people by teaching skills, knowledge and awareness and believe that we have much to learn from the people that we support.
3. Consistent Ethic: We believe that all relationships, those with people we support and their families, our employees, constituency, and ministry partners are based on consistent values and principles.
4. Home: We believe that each person we support is entitled to a home that provides nurture, safety, opportunity, choice and shalom.
5. Community: We believe that community involvement enriches a person's life providing growth, opportunity and choice.
6. Family: We believe that it is important to support a wholesome family relationship from which a person receives nurture, acceptance and direction for life.
7. Friendships: We believe that the development and nurture of wholesome relationships bring meaning to life and the greatest certainty of safety.
8. Spirituality: We recognize the spiritual dimension that is part of all persons and affirm that Christian principles provide a foundation for personal wholeness.
Company History
In 1973, a group of families in the Abbotsford area came together with a common vision. Their children were living with disabilities, and they wanted to ensure these children would always be taken care of with respect and acceptance. MCC SCS was born. Since then, the organization has grown to include more than 45 programs of support throughout British Columbia. As of July 2007, we changed our name to Communitas Supportive Care Society but our staff have not changed their commitment to the provision of quality services and continue to have a close relationship with MCC.
Benefits
RRSP's, Staff Forum every two months to gain input and ideas from employees. Representatives are kept up-to-date on organizational changes and have the opportunity to input into the organization in various ways outside of their program setting.
