In Canada, more than 1 in 7 children live in poverty; in Hamilton it's 1 in 4. For generations, poverty has stolen dreams and destroyed futures. At City Kidz, we think it’s time to change that, and we're looking for committed people who can help us do it.
City Kidz is a non-profit, Christian organization dedicated to increasing resiliency and inspiring big dreams for Canadian children living in low-income communities by providing inspirational experiences and nurturing personal relationships, one child at a time.
We are people of Faith: Our Christian faith compels us to respond to the needs of our children, focusing on those who experience the highest levels of adversity with the least amount of resources. As we respond, we believe that God transforms lives in partnership with our actions.
We are a community of Hope: We have a confident expectation that each child will rise to their full potential and realize God’s purpose for their life. This inspires us to bring hope to children and to ignite their dreams.
We are servants of Love: Because of God’s love for us, we love children regardless of race, ability, religion or economic status. We believe that to increase resiliency and inspire dreams we must demonstrate unconditional love through nurturing personal relationship one child at a time.
Within each of our core programs and projects, we work hard to:
- Inspire children to dream big, and to rise above their circumstances
- Instill values and teach children to do the right thing
- Provide new experiences and environments that inspire kids to unlimited possibilities
- Provide positive role models who build relationships with every child
- Build hope by celebrating the special days in a child’s life such as Christmas and birthdays
- Remove barriers by providing door to door transportation to all activities
- Empower youth to be role models and provide opportunities to lead
Our Vision: is to restore hope to 100,000 Canadian children each week, by the year 2040.
